Our Art Gallery is one of the Cape Town Galleries which has opened at the premises of FUNKY FRAMES with the visiting and contact details as per below. We look forward to your coming in to see us.
We have a range of Artists of very good talent at very affordable prices for each budget.
Art that we are showing includes that from the photographic to prints ,both reproduction and original for example original limited edition Lithographic prints . We also have original Acrylics Watercolors and Oil paintings. These are virtually all hanging most being presented in good framing as we are a framing concern as well.
Some artist are well known and even international while we have a well supported private hanging clientele included.

THE ARTISTS
ERIS SILKE
Eris
Silke was born in Hungary and grew up in Israel. She’s a self-taught artist and
has been painting for over four decades. Her education painting notwithstanding
includes Hebrew literature, law and psychology major.
She
has a unique talent in her field which puts her in a class separate to her
peers on the South African Art scene.
Her
imagery is often from the surreal of horror symbolism to that of psychological archetypes
who moodily or ominously gaze from the dark depths of the backdrop of the
painted scene. Figures such as Freud are often noted
Also
are waxen faced dolls grimacing jesters and dreamy eyed animals
The
figures or scenes are often seemingly as if exorcised from the murky depths of
the canvas. There is some comfort in familiar figures but there is always an
uncomfortable looming presence of something unnerving or about to" be
presented but not yet known with the other figures and objects present. There
is something of the bizarre here promising the uncanny bordering on the dark
clown or carnival presented as ornament or symbolic always unsettling. The observer
is always on guard here.
Her work is always haunting and often recalls
our memory long after we have viewed the work

There is the Art of Wood sculpting known by carving, shaping or whittling . Various woods are used, the main type being Base wood, but in Africa others are known such as the local Zebra wood, African Black wood and Imbuia .
